I got this pattern from Naida’s site. I didn’t have any cotton, but wanted to give it a try anyways. They are super cute and are going to be filled goodies to go in my girls’ Easter baskets. I thought they might look cute with some girlie embellishments on them, like crocheted flowers, or novelty buttons, or even a little fun-fur ruffle on top. I may or may not find time this week to do that.

Thanks for the pattern, Naida!

Last night I showed Sammi how to finish off her hat. She had actually finished knitting it the day before, minutes before she was to leave for Awana, so we had to wait to finish it. She used the blue KK loom, and made the hat for a doll. She now wants to make one for herself.
Isn’t she cute? hehe

Recently my 11 yr old daughter has been showing an interest in learning to crochet. Knowing that I was going to need a good amount of time, her own hooks, and maybe some fun yarn, I promised her that I would sit down with her and start teaching her after I finished my current project (the blankie in the photo with the bunny in my previous post). I realize that I am probably one of the worlds slowest crocheters, as I just don’t make time to sit and crochet. And it’s hard for me to crochet in the evenings when hubby is home, but that is a whole other post. So it occurred to me… “show her how to loom knit. she’ll pick that up in one lesson and be able to see results far more quickly.”
So yesterday I bought Sam her very own looming hook, and some pretty blue homespun yarn. (I hate crocheting with that stuff, but it looms up so pretty.)

While I made dinner, Sam sat at the kitchen table and started looming a doll hat on the blue knifty knitter loom. She did have to restart one time, as she started wrapping backward, so she was losing stitches, but she got it all worked out and it is looking good. I am sure she will have it all finished up and on a doll before dinner time tonight. I will post it once complete.
It was very cool to have her interested in stuff I like to do. Our oldest has no interest in craft things, although she occasionally will like to make cards with me. So Sam and I will have a ‘thing’ together, which is really cool, cuz as she heads into her teen years, it will become even so much more important to have that bond.

My first attempt at Lion Brand’s Best Bunny Pattern
The pattern calls for wool-ease, but I decided to go with something a little softer and easier to wash up as it would be for a little one. So, I chose Caron’s Simply Soft in bright colors. I will be removing the button eyes and replacing them with felt eyes, but I wanted to get a picture posted now. The bunny is sitting on a still-in-progress coordinating baby blanket, which is also Lion Brand pattern.
I see many more bunnies in my future. Hopefully they will get better looking!!

I got to spend the evening yesterday with one of my best friends, making cards. She taught me some new techniques, and we had a great time. I will try to post pictures of our cards later.
It was so nice to spend some time with a friend whom I don’t get to see nearly often enough. She made a lovely dinner and then we retreated to the craft room. We were very silly and the word “Surprise!” will never be quite the same. Love ya, Char!!
